釉薬を一切掛けず、約1250℃の高火度で焼締めることで、胎土中の鉄分が酸化・還元を繰り返し、全体は鉄黒から焦茶へ移ろう金属光沢。口縁部は赤銅色のわずかな縁取り。微細な灰が自然釉となって銀点を散らす。といった静謐な景色が現れています。まるで苔むす礎石が夜露を帯びて輝くさまを思わせる質感でございます。

尾西楽斎様が創り出した薬師寺東塔基壇土刷毛目茶碗は、薬師寺東塔の基壇から採取された土を用い、伝統的な刷毛目技法で仕上げられた一品です。この茶碗は、古典的な美と奈良の柔らかな風合いが見事に融合し、卓越した技術と感性が輝く傑作です。
